So much awesome in the pre-Australian Open tourney finals this weekend. In Sydney we have Simon
versus Troicki. Didn’t I pick both of these guys as players to watch in 2011? Yep, I’m just like the Delphic Oracle. You may now call me Pythia. Or should I say Miss Cleo…
Obvs, I’m rooting for Vik. Winning this title would give him so much confidence going into the AO. As Janko would say IDEMOOOOOOOOOOOOO…sigh
In Auckland we have Ferru vs. Nalby, which is pretty much what we all expected the final to be (sorry John). It will, indeed, be rather tasty.
I’m leaning towards Ferru for the win, even though I think Nalbaaahndian’s form has been stronger overall this week.

Auckland Day 4: I’m OK with This

I’ll start with the good news first: Ferru beat Kohlschreiber 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-3. He’ll take on Giraldo (yes, Giraldo) next. Looks like we’ll be seeing Daveeed in the final. That is awesome.
Now for the news I don’t really care one way or the other about: Almagro won 7-6(3), 6-7(1), 6-2 over Mannarino. Felt like this match took FOREVER to complete. And of course, Nico was his usual charming self.
OK, now for the not so good news: Isner lost in straights to Nalby 6-4, 7-6(3)?. So much for his first title defense. I feel your pain, John…
On a positive note he was playing a lot better than he was against Josh Groban, and now he can rest up and get ready for the Australian Open. So I am totally ok with this. Really.
Plus, it’s shaping up to be a Nalby v. Ferru final, and that is all sorts of win
Watch out for Baalbandian, Ferru. He’s hungry.? And fleecy.

Auckland Day 3: Ferru Wins, Josh Groban Loses, Don’t Mess with the Sheep

It wasn’t pretty tennis out there in Auckland on Wednesday, but the top seeds managed to get through. Ferrer defeated an impressive Kamke 3-6, 7-6 (1), 6-4.?

Isner was truly lucky to get by Robin Haase 3-6, 7-6 (4), 7-5. He played some UGLY tennis for a set and a half. John only had 1 break point the entire match but converted it on set point.
Robin Haase looked rather impressive out there. But sorry, the kid could be Josh Groban’s friggin stunt double. From now on, I will be referring to Haase as Josh Groban. Deal with it, Robin.?
Nalby took out Petzschner? 6-3, 6-2. David says he wants back in the top 10 this year. If he keeps playing like this, I sure wouldn’t count him out.
As I was once told, Nalby is like a sheep.? Watch out if you turn your back on him, cause if you do, he may just butt you.
Plus, he totally looks kinda ovine. Baahh, bitches!
